Espacios Sénior: Leading Care in the Rural Reality

Six local action groups from Extremadura have come together to implement Espacios Sénior, a project aimed at building age-friendly territories committed to older adults, promoting participation, active aging, combating depopulation, providing local services, and creating employment in rural areas. In the words of its managers, it has become “the cornerstone for discovering the entire economy related to older adults.” As local action groups, they went beyond funding specific actions for this population. They have created an updatable overview of care and services for older adults. The app allows for the publication of studies and updated information, and a Guide for Municipalities has also been developed to assist in creating their Action Plans.
